Principle Studios is seeking an experienced project manager who will run engagements with our clients. Candidates should have deep experience running projects for the web and mobile apps and have an understanding of the core technologies used. As a small agency, our project managers wear many hats to ensure our projects are successful and are a combination of project manager, product owner, business analyst, and quality assurance tester – you’ll basically do a bit of everything! Our culture is also very important and given that project managers interact with so many team members on a daily basis, being an ambassador of our culture is also an important responsibility.
Responsibilities
Managing
- Oversee multiple work streams and client projects concurrently through every stage of the project lifecycle - from planning through delivery
- Manage project scope, schedules, resources and budget requirements
- Intake and translate technical project requirements of varying complexities into executable and manageable work for project team
- Own project backlog - re-prioritizing, refining and negotiating around triple constraints to achieve successful outcomes.
- Perform effective risk management and ensure operational readiness in order to deliver successfully on schedule
- Able to align with clients-specific processes, varying development methodologies and tools
- Take personal ownership for the project that you are overseeing. Willing to fill whatever roles you can to ensure success of the project.
- Able to identify risks / issues and resolve or escalate appropriately.
Collaborating
- Work closely with internal and external cross-functional teams (e.g., Engineering, Product Management, Marketing, Design, QA) to successfully translate project initiatives and define functional solutions
- Partner with project SMEs on execution strategy and contingency planning activities to ensure policies, standards and best practices are met
- Effectively and frequently communicate project status to a diverse set of stakeholders and promote open communication
- Comfortable facilitating meetings with executive teams to communicate status, project risks, and get feedback.
Leading
- Able to lead project teams with authority and supervise execution through each project stage
- Take initiative to assess situations and navigate through ambiguous situations
- Be a doer, team member and team builder and problem solver
- Be the primary owner of projects, fully responsible for definition, execution, and delivery.
Qualifications
- Project management or product owner experience in a technical environment
- Strong analytical, interpersonal and verbal/written communication skills with both technical and non-technical groups
- Strong understanding of Scrum/Kanban/Agile/DevOps methodologies and practices
- Significant experience with Jira or other project management tools
- Effective organization, time/budget management skills in a high volume and fast paced environment
- Ability to see the big picture, but love to get the details right
- Excellent stakeholder management skills
- Licensing or certifications is a plus (e.g., PMP, PMI, CSPO)
